Children at a Sheffield primary school are practising their curtseys in readiness for a royal visitor.

Queen Emma is set to meet her young subjects at Totley Primary as part of a programme which seeks to bring incredible women from history to life.

Actor Gertie Whitfield will be appearing as the only woman to be twice crowned Queen of England, by marrying Aethelred the Unready and Canute.

She was also the mother of the Edward the Confessor, ruler of the country in the run up to the Norman invasion of England in 1066.

“The experience that the kids at Totley are going to get is something special - it gives them the opportunity to not only interact and ask questions but allows them to explore history through drama and English,” Gertie said.
