PUPILS from a Barnsley primary school took centre stage on national TV after they were given the chance to meet Olympic champion and athletics superstar Michael Johnson.
A group from Darton Primary School were invited to Colegrave School in Newham, London, as part of the Newham Barnsley Partnership, which aims to increase the aspirations and ambitions of Barnsley’s young people.
The visit was filmed for the BBC as part of its coverage in the build-up to the Olympics.
It saw the children take part in a question and answer session with Michael and talk to him about his many experiences in the world of sport.
Colegrave Primary School is the closest school to the Olympic Village.
