Junior wardens from a Sheffield school have been delivering some New Year cheer – hampers for elderly and vulnerable people in their community.
The wardens project has been running for three years at Mundella Primary School in Norton Lees, in partnership with Sheffield Council, South Yorkshire Police, the fire service and local tenants and residents’ associations.
The project aims to educate the youngsters about the impact of anti-social behaviour on their communities, fire safety, caring for the environment, staying safe and working within the community.
Junior warden Daniel, aged 11, said: “I’ve really enjoyed making the winter hampers and meeting the people we gave them to.
“They include helpful things such as food and toiletries.”
