AN INVESTIGATION is under way into the death of an inmate found hanging in his South Yorkshire prison cell.

Adam Wileman, aged 21, was discovered at Doncaster Prison on Monday night and pronounced dead at the scene after efforts to revive him failed. He was being held in custody on remand, accused of actual bodily harm.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “Staff attempted resuscitation and paramedics were called but he was pronounced dead. As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation.”
