management at a country house hotel are being asked not to hold any more late night firework displays by parish councillors.

It follows a display being staged at 1am at a wedding reception at Tankersley Manor Hotel, next to the village of Tankersley, between Sheffield and Barnsley.

A meeting of Tankersley Parish Council heard ‘very loud fireworks at the display disturbed the sleep of villagers living nearest to the hotel’.

Parish council chairman, Coun Helen Reckless, said: “We do not mind fireworks displays at functions at the hotel at reasonable hours.

“But holding them at 1am is far too late, especially as some homes in the parish are very near to the hotel.”
