A new £4 million primary school has opened in Rotherham with capacity for 420 pupils.

Lilly Hall Primary in Maltby was created through the merger of Maltby Hall Infants and Maltby Lilly Hall Juniors.

The extension to the junior school, which took 18 months to complete, has a foundation unit of 26 children and includes four Key Stage One classrooms, a hall, reception, offices, staff room and ancillary rooms.

A new pedestrian site entrance has been created off Lilly Hall Road, with a meandering woodland pathway leading to the new main entrance reception.

The external appearance of the building was designed to blend modern white render with more rustic brickwork and slate.

The building itself benefits from high levels of thermal insulation, solar panels, underfloor heating and natural ventilation.

The foundation stages also feature a self-contained play area fully surrounded by an acoustic fence, to shield neighbouring properties from noise.
