Prayers were said and a plaque dedicated to the memory of a long serving member of staff who worked at a Sheffield school for 20 years.

Parmjit Pabam, who lived in Lodge Moor, died from cancer last April at the age of 54.

A day in her memory was held at Notre Dame RC High School at Ranmoor, where she worked as a kitchen assistant and food technology assistant.

The event was organised by her daughter Chundeep, who said she had loved every minute of her job there.

“I wanted to hold the day as a thank you to all the school community at Notre Dame who were so extremely supportive to my mum when she became unwell,” she said.

“It was a very emotional occasion and at times the emotion was quite overwhelming as we unveiled the plaque in her memory.

“I made a speech just to say thank you to everyone and to recognise everything they did, not just for my mum but for our whole family,” Chundeep added.

The plaque was installed in a quiet part of the school grounds.
