A TOP performing school in Doncaster which clinched much-improved GCSE exam results last year has been singled out for Government praise.
Schools minister David Laws sent his personal congratulations to Ridgewood School at Scawsby, one of 21 in the region to receive the letter.
It confirmed the school was in the top 100 most improving schools in the country for progress students make between Key Stage Two and GCSE.
Mr Laws wrote: “I would like to congratulate your staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success and thank you for your leadership in continuing the drive towards high standards of educational achievement.”
Ridgewood head Chris Hoyle said: “Receiving external recognition and verification of the quality of the school’s performance and progress is always welcome, and testifies to the efforts of all concerned in producing the positive outcomes in question.
“The current recognition duly marks what was achieved in 2012. The current challenge and focus is to replicate that in 2013 and beyond.”
