MATTHEW Davenport serenaded MP Caroline Flint when she was given a tour of his school.
Matthew, a pupil at Trinity Academy in Thorne, performed the melody from Adele’s Rolling in the Deep on his keyboard for Ms Flint and Doncaster Coun Rachel Hodson, who accompanied her on the visit, to mark its ‘outstanding’ rating by Ofsted.
They were shown round the school by Year 9 pupils Emily Liddle and Dale Smith.
Ms Flint said: “It was fascinating to be shown round the school without staff or pupils having any prior notice or any special preparation.
“This is a happy, well- organised school and the growing numbers staying on in the sixth form and going to university testifies to its outstanding Ofsted award.”
She said the school seemed to produce self-confident pupils, and paid tribute to school trips to destinations including South Africa and New York, and involvement on tall ships, for ensuring youngsters got to see a world beyond Doncaster and learn in the process.
