Hard work pays off for students

Have your say

MORE than 30 South Yorkshire college students have benefitted from a free eight-week sign language course.

The students from different departments across Barnsley College started the course not knowing any signs. Over the last two months they have not only learnt the alphabet and a range of key conversation signs but have also mastered all 20 signs to Bob Marley’s song, Three Little Birds.

The students learnt all the signs to the song in their final class last week, testing the skills they acquired during the course.

Organiser Lynne Guy said: “The classes were started in response to student suggestions for enrichment activities at the college’s Freshers’ Fair in September. It has been a really popular enrichment activity and I am pleased to see how far they have come.”
