England international footballer Sue Smith got a kick out of passing on tips to students at a Sheffield school.
The former winger and forward, who kickstarted her career with Tranmeer Rovers in the 1990s and went on to play for the Doncaster Belles, Leeds United and Lincoln Ladies, represented England from 1997 until 2011 - winning 93 caps.
Now a mentor for the Sky Sports Living for Sport project, aimed at inspiring students to achieve more, the footballer visited Sheffield Springs Academy last week, providing students from Years 7,8 and 9 with a sports masterclass.
She also worked with the academy’s indoor climbing club.
“As a Sky Sports mentor, the aim is to help motivate young people through sport, focusing on six keys to success and working these into practical and theory sessions,” she said.
