The University of Sheffield ‘s Students’ Union has received funding to launch two green schemes.

The two projects - Sheffield on a Plate and Sheffield Green Homes - are being supported by the Students’ Green Fund, a £5 million pot of funding granted to the National Union of Students by the Higher Education Funding Council for England to deliver student-led sustainability projects across England.

Sheffield on a Plate will aim to promote student-led food production and cookery, install sustainability in food outlets, minimise the amount of food sent to landfill and increase the amount of produce donated to food banks.

Sheffield Green Homes will be a project to create more comfortable, more energy-efficient and more environmentally sustainable student housing.
