Communication Specialist College Doncaster is once again throwing open its doors to give prospective students from across the country the chance to see its facilities at an open day next month.

The college – formerly Doncaster College for the Deaf – will welcome young people, parents, professionals and carers to its Leger Way campus on Saturday, December 8, for a Christmas family fun open day.

It offers a wide variety of personalised programmes which aim to develop personal, social and independence skills.

Also on offer are a range of vocational and employment development programmes in construction, hair and beauty, health and social care, motor vehicle engineering, ICT and computers and sport, recreation and leisure studies, with students able to achieve nationally recognised qualifications.

Alan Robinson, executive principal at the college, said: “We have been delighted by the response to our open days. Potential students from across the country have come along to find out more about our college and the courses we provide.

“We have decided to hold an open day on a Saturday to give more people the opportunity to attend.

“This is a perfect chance for those who are deaf, hearing impaired or those with specialist communication needs including autism who are considering further education to see the personal learning programmes we offer.

“Guests at our open day can join us for fun Christmas activities and discover more about the college. Doors open at 10am.”

Current students will act as tour guides and share their own experiences.
