Former state school pupils are being asked to help persuade today’s youngsters to aim high.
South Yorkshire’s schools can get involved in Back to School Week from Feb 1 to 5. The campaign is run by the national education charity Future First.
Future First alumni include professionals in careers such as banking, law and medicine, along with others such as photography, catering and creative arts, and including recent school leavers now in further education.
Research shows that one in four young people from poor backgrounds fundamentally don’t believe that ‘people like me’ succeed in life, but say that hearing from former students motivated them to work harder. Visit www.futurefirst.org.uk to find out how to get involved.
