civic buildings in Rotherham are to be sold off in a £7.3 million deal.
Rotherham Council has agreed to sell a number of town centre sites, including Norfolk House and the Central Library and Arts Centre, to make way for a new Tesco Extra store.
Construction work is due to start later this spring.
Coun Gerald Smith described the sale as a ‘massive step forward’ in the redevelopment of Rotherham.
The Tesco store on Forge Island will close when the new one is built.
