Absent pupils weren’t truants

TWENTY youngsters’ homes were visited and parks were checked by police patrols, as part of a truancy sweep with teachers at Newbold School near Chesterfield.

PCSO Janis Naylor said: “The patrols went well and no-one was found to be truanting. Two of the youngsters had simply turned up late, and all the other students had been unwell so we reminded them and their parents to ensure they contact the school.”
