IF South Yorkshire Police has any ounce of decency within its ranks, it should launch a manhunt for the killers of this old lady.
This time last week this frail 83-year-old was alive and well in her Intake home. On Sunday she died - although I believe she was KILLED - precisely one week after her home was attacked. Whether the attackers were mindless yobs, or she was deliberately targeted by someone with a grudge is unclear.
The vulnerable pensioner narrowly escaped injury when a breeze block was hurled through the window of her Lonsdale Avenue home.
The resulting damage meant temperatures in Mrs Green’s house plummeted, leaving her to perish from 9pm on the evening of the attack to 8.30am the following day. She died just days later, from pneumonia.
So today I’m calling for her killers to be brought to justice and would like followers of The Star to help by sharing this call for justice around social media until the authorities sit up and listen.
At the very least, someone is culpable for manslaughter. If the perpetrator targeted Mrs Green and intended to do her serious harm, then this should be a murder probe, surely?
The Star has a long and proud history of sticking up for its communities. On this occasion, with silence coming out of South Yorkshire Police, I feel compelled to demand action.
The family of Mrs Green deserve to know who killed their loved one. More than that, they deserve justice.
