Today is a momentous day for The Star, for myself and I hope for the readers: we have pulled out all stops to bring you almost 200 jobs!
Sheffielders know better than anyone that Thursday is job day in your Star, and since I arrived as Editor back in October you have been telling me to give you more opportunities in workplaces in and around Sheffield, and that’s what we’ve done.
I am insatiably building contacts in the Sheffield City Region, and this is one part of the Sheffield Star jig-saw that YOU have been telling me has either been missing, or has not been good enough as and when we meet.
I’m big enough and ugly enough to accept criticism. I’d also like to think I’m industrious enough to get off my backside and deliver what the hard-working people of this city are demanding of their newspaper.
This is just one example of major improvements to your Star, so please let other people around you know that I have heeded the forthcoming advice, and that we are changing for the better – thanks to YOU!
In addition, I will be setting up camp at Crystal Peaks tomorrow with my team to seek more of your views on the Star, its website, mobile site, the apps and various associated publications.
We’ll be there from 10am and would be delighted if some of you would come along and say hello.
Come armed with a smile and a shed-load of great ideas, and who knows, the next great improvement of the Sheffield Star might just be down to a bright idea of yours.
