The former shadow chancellor and Ms Smith, who shot to fame as a TV chef, were all smiles as they joined Sheffield-based Norwich City fans at Walkley Cottage pub, Bole Hill, along with the pub's owner Alan Ward.

However, following The Owls' 5-1 victory over Norwich yesterday, the celebrity fans may not have been quite as happy as they left Sheffield.

Mr Balls is Chairman of Norwich City FC, while Ms Smith and her husband Michael Wynn-Jones are the club's majority stakeholders.
