OVER half of credit card customers don’t have a direct debit set up to make a minimum payment – and it’s costing them £150m a year.

The website confused.com found 57.5 per cent of card holders are running the risk of charges – averaging £12 – if they forget to make a payment each month.

A spokesman said: “Setting up a direct debit to make a minimum payment on a credit card is such a simple thing to do.”

The site’s research showed 26 per cent have been charged at least once in the last year.
