A South Yorkshire mother and daughter hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning and raised an incredible £2500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Tracey Gibson and Jackie Wild made calls and sent emails asking companies for raffle prizes for their event and managed to scoop 54 items - including tickets for Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United games, luxury food hampers, beauty vouchers, and even a double bed!

“We made over £2000 on the raffle alone,” said Tracey, aged 33, of Hillsborough.

“People gave so generously and we’ve been stunned by the amount we’ve managed to raise - our goal was £1000 so we definitely smashed it!”

Tracey was inspired to raise money for Macmillan after her uncle was diagnosed with cancer.

She said: “Once you’ve had firsthand experience of this terrible disease, it drives you to help in any way you can.”

The coffee morning was held at Tracey’s house in Barnsley and the duo welcomed nearly 50 people through the door.

“We want to thank everybody for their time and donations and for helping us to make such a difference and raise such a terrific amount.”
