Dronfield ready to rock for annual festival

YOU don't have to drive miles and brave muddy camping fields to enjoy a sunshine music festival tomorrow.

Dronfield hosts its eighth annual music festival at Carr Lane Recreational Ground, the Dronfield Woodhouse Sports and Social Club, Dronfield.

An all-day musical event to raise cash for local charities will feature special performances from Australian singer-songwriters Carus Thompson and Dave Gander, with local acts including The Steve French Band.

The charity event has raised around 18,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, The Cavendish Centre for Cancer Care, Rygate Respite Centre, Sincere Support, The St John Ambulance Brigade and local youth groups.

There will be a bar, tombola, barbecue, jamming and music workshops, children’s games, carnival entertainers and food.

Festival organiser John Aspinall said: “We are looking forward to building on the success of last year's venue move. I think everyone agreed that the more compact size of the venue at Dronfield Woodhouse Sports and Social Club created a much friendlier and more relaxed atmosphere for the festival.

“We are honoured to have some international artists performing this year but we do of course have plenty of local acts.”
