A TEENAGER is facing jail after pleading guilty to causing the death by careless driving of a passenger in his car.

Wagar Ali, aged 19, admitted the offence at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday. His driving led to the death of 18-year-old Rahim Ahmed.

Ali is said to have been speeding along Wickersley Road, Rotherham, on April 6 last year when his Audi left the road and hit a telegraph pole.

He has also pleaded guilty to a further offence of causing death while uninsured.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Judge Michael Murphy QC warned the teen he faced a custodial sentence. He said: “This is a dreadful tragedy for all concerned.”

Ali, of Broom, Rotherham, will be sentenced on April 15.
