Drivers warned of two-in-one thefts

Residents and motorists are being urged to be vigilant following several car key burglaries in Eckington and Killamarsh.

Four incidents in two weeks have seen thieves break into homes to steal car keys and drive off in vehicles. The latest took place in Eckington overnight on November 7, when a house was broken into on Curlow Avenue and a Ford Fiesta ST was taken, and a house on Kestral Drive was broken into and a Vauxhall Astra coupe was stolen.

Inspector Glenn Hoggard said: “Always ensure your car keys cannot be seen from ground floor windows, doors or the letterbox.”
