There will be a series of overnight closures from 8pm until 6am until Thursday.

It comes at the same time as Thorne Road is closed in both directions near Clay Lane for the installation of a new railway bridge.

Thorne Road will be shut until 6pm on March 8 as further work takes place on the carriageways between Sandall Park and the West Moor Link Road roundabout near to the Clay Lane Estate and Sainsbury’s at Edenthorpe.

The road is closed on the section between the Sandall Park/Shaw Lane Industrial Estate roundabout and the West Moor Link roundabout at the other side of the railway bridge, near to the Toby Carvery pub and Sainsbury’s supermarket.

The works are part of an ongoing two year scheme to improve the A630 West Moor Link road which connects junction 4 of the M18 to Edenthorpe.

The scheme aims to improve journey times on the A630/A18 corridor by replacing the A18 Thorne Rd railway over bridge with a 'widened and deepened prefabricated bridge' as well as alterations to Thorne Road itself, including widening of the route and alterations to roundabouts.

From Sunday 8 March through to the end of June 2020 the road will reopen but the road will be single lane in both directions as the work progresses.

There will be no pedestrian route between March 1 and 8 and school pupils heading towards Hungerhill School are being advised to take an alternative route to get to classes.
