Driver ‘runs from vehicle’ after crash which injures nine-year-old girl on Sheffield road

A driver who allegedly ran from their vehicle after a crash which left a nine-year-old girl in hospital, has sparked a police investigation.

Police have said that a purple Citroen C4 and a blue Kia Carens collided on Ridgeway Road at the junction of Hurlfield Road around 6,25am this morning.

The nine-year-old girl, travelling as a passenger in the Kia, suffered serious injuries and is currently in hospital. The driver of the Kia, a 35-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

The Kia is thought to be travelling towards the Manor Top area.

A 20-year-old man travelling as a passenger in the Citroen suffered minor injuries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The driver of the Citroen is alleged to have ran from the vehicle following the collision and officers are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident.

“Please call 101 or email [email protected] quoting incident number 182 of 26 December 2015.”
