Driver killed in accident

A SOUTH Yorkshire man has died after his car collided with a lamppost in the early hours of Saturday.

The 28-year-old man, from Rotherham, suffered head and internal injuries when his silver Toyota Corolla hit a lamppost as he travelled along Rotherham Road, Parkgate, on the approach to the bridge over the River Don at around 2.10am.

He was taken to Rotherham General Hospital where he later died.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the single car collision to come forward.
