Driver and passengers cut free from minibus after crash in Barnsley

A taxi driver and four passengers were cut free from a minibus after a collision.

The bus was involved in a smash with a Skoda Octavia on the A628 Barnsley Road, Silkstone, Barnsley at 11pm on Friday.

Firefighters had to use specialist cutting equipment to free the casualties.

Paramedics assessed them at the scene and the driver a female passenger were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The woman had shoulder and arm injuries but the extent of the driver’s injuries are not known.

Police officers were alerted to the collision, which closed the road.

Earlier in the night firefighters were called to a two-vehicle collision on Church Lane, Bramley, Rotherham.

Smoke was spotted coming from one of the vehicles.
