The driver and passenger of van involved in a collision in Doncaster drove off in a car stolen from the crash scene.
South Yorkshire Police said a 25-year-old man was left with serious injuries after the orange Kia Picanto he was driving was involved in a collision with a red Ford Transit van at the junction of Wheatley Hall Road and Wentworth Road, Wheatley, at 7.10pm yesterday.
The Kia was turning right onto Wheatley Hall Road, heading away from the town centre, when the collision occurred as the van was travelling in the opposite direction.
The injured Kia driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Three passengers - a 19-year-old woman and two men aged 29 and 31 - were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries but have since been discharged.
South Yorkshire Police said the van driver and their passenger left the scene before emergency services arrived.
They left in a silver Vauxhall Astra stolen from the scene of the collision.
Details of how the car was stolen have not yet been released.
The car was found burnt out in Humberside.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Enquiries are now ongoing to trace the driver and passenger of the Transit van and officers would like to ask anyone who saw what happened, or who saw the van prior to the collision to contact them."
