World Book Day, which this year took place last Thursday, is a celebration of books, authors and illustrations from all over the world and aims to encourage children globally to appreciate and develop a love of reading.

Deborah Sanderson, head teacher at Tinsley Meadows Upper School, said: “As a local school we have a very close relationship with Meadowhall. Darren has been into school on several occasions and the children loved hearing him read as part of our World Book Day celebrations.”

Mr Pearce added: “The centre’s partnership with Tinsley Meadows is very important to us and it’s one of the highlights on my calendar coming in to see the children.”
