A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife and daughter after their bodies were found at a home in Wath-upon-Dearne.
Peter Redfern, aged 70, appeared at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court today charged with two counts of murder.
The bodies of Jean Refern, 70, and 33-year-old Sarah Redfern were found at a property on Sandygate, on Monday, at about 7pm.
Post mortem results have revealed Jean died from asphyxiation and Sarah from severe head injuries.
Redfern spoke only to confirm his name and address at the brief hearing this morning.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday, August 7.
