Dore children design DVS Christmas card

Dore Village Society has unveiled its annual Christmas card - designed for the first time this year by pupils from Dore Primary School.

The cards have always featured drawings by local artists, but this year, the DVS committee decided it was time to let the village’s youngsters shine.

Six designs were chosen from more than 30 entries and 2000 cards have now been printed and packed, with each design featuring the artist’s first name and age on the back.

Philip Howes, of Dore Village Society, said: “We were overwhelmed by the quality of the entries. Considering that we asked for the designs quite early in the year, it was amazing that the children were able to focus so clearly on Christmas.”

Each winner, all aged between seven and 11, was awarded a £10 book token and the primary school received £200 for its library. Cards are now on sale in various shops in the village for £3 each, to raise funds for communnity events and decorations throughout the year. Whittington Goddard, the financial adviser based in Dore village, has once again chosen one of the cards as its company Christmas card for 2015.
