A HOUSING firm joined forces with council bosses to build affordable apartments.
Johnson Housing Trust and Rotherham Borough Council have opened six new pads in Brookhaven Way.
Firm Jones Homes sold the apartments at a discount price, meaning the council can nominate people in need of affordable rentals to live there.
Two of the properties have also been specially-designed to meet the needs of young people with disabilities.
Chris Bader, a new tenant, said: “This home has given me a whole new lease of life.
“It has enabled me to live my own life and still remain close to my parents. I never thought I’d be able to do that.”
Coun Rose McNeely, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “These flats are absolutely brilliant and I am sure they will be appreciated by the tenants.”
