Don't miss flu jab, patients urged

PATIENTS at a big Rotherham town centre GP practice are being urged not to miss out on a flu jab this winter.

Practice nurses and GPs at the St Ann’s practice will be giving flu vaccinations this Saturday between 9am and 4.30pm at Rotherham Health Village in Doncaster Gate.

On Saturday October 20 they will be at the practice’s satellite surgery at Kimberworth Park between 10am and noon. Patients registered with St Ann’s can make an appointment by ringing 0845 123 6776.

Dr Robin Carlisle, Consultant in Public Health at Rotherham Primary Care Trust, said: “Flu is much more serious than a cold. It gives you fevers, chills, extreme fatigue and aching muscles, as well as the more cold-like symptoms of sore throats and runny noses, and tends to last for up to two weeks. Whilst flu is a nasty experience for all of us, for those at risk it can lead to more serious illnesses such as bronchitis or pneumonia.”

Patients registered with other GP practices in Rotherham are being advised to contact their surgery to make an appointment for a free flu jab.
