Done has no doubts about United's mental toughness

Done, the Blades striker, made the admission after ending his 27-game goal drought in Saturday’s 3-2 victory at AFC Wimbledon, United’s third league win in succession.

The goalless run is mitigated somewhat by Done being used as a left wing-back last season by Wilder’s predecessor, Nigel Adkins. The United manager has since insisted that he sees Done as a striker only, and the 28-year-old said: “I think we’re better equipped to deal with it, definitely, and that’s all credit to the gaffer, his staff, the players he’s brought in and the ones who were already here, who have bought into what he’s trying to do.

“He knows what this club means to the fans and everyone associated with it and although I’ve only been here 18 months or so myself, I know what the fans want and what it’ll take to get out of this league; hard work.

“I know that I’ll put that in every day, on a personal level, and I have no doubts that the lads in the changing rooms will do it, too.”

Done, Mark Duffy and Billy Sharp were all on target at Kingsmeadow, an intimidating ground which hosts the phoenix club who have battled their way into the Football League.

“That’s what League One football is all about,” Done added.

“You know teams are going to scrap for every ball and some are physically intimidating.

“But the ones with the most quality, and who work the hardest, will be the most successful.

“League One is a battle in every game, and we need to work hard in every game - which I think we have done so far.

“We’ve stood up to the tests and we have lads willing to put their bodies on the line. But we have a lot of ability, too.”
