Doncaster's Trax FM disappears from airwaves as radio station is rebranded

Doncaster’s Trax FM radio station has disappeared from the airwaves after 22 years on the air after rebranding as a nationwide network.

Trax was yesterday officially rebranded as Greatest Hits Radio (South Yorkshire), as part of the largest commercial radio network in the UK.

Greatest Hits Radio will feature upbeat classic hits from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s with renowned presenters such as Simon Mayo, Mark Goodier, Janice Long, Paul Gambaccini, and Pat Sharp hosting shows.

Listeners will be served news bulletins carrying locally gathered stories, local traffic bulletins and local information to reflect the interests of each market.

Trax first went on air in Doncaster in November 1998 and began as two separate licences, one for Doncaster and one for Bassetlaw.

Its studios were based on a site off White Rose Way in Doncaster with listeners promised ‘hits and memories’ with shows being broadcast across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.

Doncaster’s independent radio station Sine FM, which broadcasts on 102.6 FM from studios in Nether Hall Road, is still broadcasting.
