This modern estate pub was built in the 80s - but don't let that put you off. Its cosy, charming and is renowned for its friendly welcome as well as a great range of real ales and CAMRA related activties. Lovely beer garden too.

A real rural gem, this free house might need some seeking out, but it is well worth the trip. The multi-room pub boasts a snooker table, some great food and drink - and, perfect for winter, open fires to get toasty.

The Wheatsheaf, Armthorpe

Another sprawling village pub with a prominent roadside location, there's always cask beers on offer - so if you love real ale, its the place to be. You can also try your hand at traditional pub games.

Well-known for miles around and for many years, many drinkers and diners have flocked to this pub to sample its charm and character. Handpulled brews are always on offer and there's a restaurant with good, honest pub grub too.

You can't miss this traditional free house on the road between Doncaster and Sheffield, perched, as its name suggests, on top of a hill. The free house serves up locally brewed beers - and the homemade pies are to die for.

Glasshouse, Kirk Sandall

Another modern pub, built on the site of the former Glassmaker, its prominent roadside location makes it a popular spot for Sunday lunch as well as a few pints. The beer garden is always popular in summer.

Concertina Band Club, Mexborough

What's better than a real ale pub? A real ale pub with a brewery attached! Locally known as The Tina, the premises were once home to a concertina band. Real ale enthusiasts flock from far and wide to sample the beers on offer.
