Doncaster Toll Bar Amateur Rugby League Club warmed up for this weekend's Yorkshire League Premier Division debut with a 54-16 friendly win at Thornhill Trojans.

Tom Holt, Jordan King and Joel Dilley all bagged a brace for Toll Bar, who quit the Pennine League Premier Division earlier this year due to a lack of regular fixtures.

Gaz Carey, Shaun Roberts and Alex Palmer also touched down, as did debutants Jono Burns, Owen Wedgwood and Ben Warner.

“We were really pleased with the way we played as it was our first game for four months and we only went with 14 men as ten players were unavailable,” said coach Ian Tattersall.

“We also know there are a lot tougher challenges ahead but it will have certainly helped our confidence.

“The new lads fitted in really well and all showed that they will improve the group. Our attack was really strong, I thought our shape and structure looked good and the players executed a lot of what we have worked on.

“Our defence is a work in progress and is an area that we will be looking to improve on.

“The lads are all excited about our first season of summer rugby, as is the whole club. It’s a new era and a new challenge.”

Toll Bar start their campaign away to York Acorn A on Saturday.

Bentley, who joined the league last season, kick off their Division One campaign away to Batley Boys.
