Doncaster shop owner's thanks as crowdfunding appeal to repair smashed window hits target

A crowdfunding appeal and benefit concert were set up to raise £500 for Simon Saynor, owner of the Notorious Aardvark record shop, after a window at his Waterdale store was broken.

Now, after members of the public donated the cash needed to carry out repairs, he has thanked those who have come to his aid.

Posting on Facebook he said: "I am truly overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of so many people. Not gonna lie, I've cried a lot. I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life.

"I just want to say thank you all so much. From the bottom of my dodgy heart. Thank you xxxxx"

A crowdfunding appeal - where members of the public donate cash to support various causes - was set up after the window at the vinyl and rarities store was smashed by "mindless idiots."

Mark Loraine, a friend of Mr Saynor, set up the appeal to raise the £500 before August 16 with 33 people pledging cash to hit the target just days after the appeal was set up.

A fundraising benefit concert will be held from 2pm to 8.30pm this Sunday at Cask Corner on Cleveland Street and a spokesman said: "A lot of musicians love Simon and all that he has done for them so to thank him and help him get back on his feet, there will be live music from many of his friends.

"Come listen and donate - it is for a very worthwhile cause."
