Doncaster Rovers: Players must demand more from each other - Tyson

The stand-in skipper has called for Rovers’ players to stand up and be counted in Saturday’s vital home game with Shrewsbury Town.

And the 33-year-old does not just want his teammates to make their presence felt on the pitch but also in the dressing room - stating they must start demanding more from each other if they are to end their slump in form.

“It’s not too early to start talking about six-pointers and we know the job on Saturday,” said Tyson.

“We’ve got to go out there and we have to kick and punch our way through it. We’ve got to be nasty.

“It’s at times like this you realise your character and it really does test it.

“I felt sorry for Chappy [Richard Chaplow] on Tuesday night because their lad just fell over and I don’t think it was a sending off. But at least he’s getting stuck in - and that’s what we need to do.

“We need to dig in in the trenches and stand up and be counted.

“We’re sticking together, we’re not going to lose each other in the dressing room,” he added.

“But we are going to have to demand a bit more from each other.”

Doncaster and Shrewsbury go head-to-head at the Keepmoat Stadium this weekend with both sides perched precariously just two points above the drop zone.

“They’re in the same situation as us, so it’s going to be a very tense game,” said Tyson.

“We really need to make the Keepmoat a fortress because if we’re going to struggle away from home, like we did on Tuesday night, we need to make sure our home form really does improve.”
