IAN LAWLOR 6

Did what he needed to do with a calm authority but was a spectator for long periods as Cheltenham struggled in the final third.

MATTY BLAIR 9

Man of the match display. A constant attacking outlet from right back, laying on Butler’s goal. His pace caused problems all afternoon.

MATHIEU BAUDRY 5

Not his usual composed self at the back but improved in the second half as Town’s threat waned.

ANDY BUTLER 7

Commanding display from the club captain. Defended with authority and popped up with a goal.

CRAIG ALCOCK 6

Defensively sound at left back, steady as you like. Offered little going forward though.

NIALL MASON 8

Best display yet in the midfield holding role. Won the ball back numerous times and rarely wasted possession.

CONOR GRANT 6

A real mixture from the on-loan Everton youngster. Did some nice stuff on the ball at times but was also wasteful on occasions.

TOMMY ROWE 5

Struggled to really get into the game and impose himself in midfield. Had a good header disallowed for offside.

JAMES COPPINGER 7

Some of Rovers’ best moments, particularly in the first half, stemmed from getting the ball into Coppinger’s feet. Good display.

JOHN MARQUIS 6

Stayed very much on the fringe of the game but notched his 21st goal of the season with an impressive finish after good work from May.

ALFIE MAY 7

Received a well deserved standing ovation for a tireless display. Guilty of missing a few good chances but ran his heart out for the cause.

Kept things neat and tidy as Rovers ended the game well on top against Town’s ten men.

Looked sharp when he came on and was determined to make an impression. Denied by the excellent Scott Brown twice.

GARY MCSHEFFREY 5

Replaced Coppinger at the tip of the midfield diamond but did not have enough time to make an impact.
