Doncaster Rovers: Our form is guaranteed to turn insists Darren Ferguson

Darren Ferguson says Doncaster Rovers' fortunes are guaranteed to turn - but it is up to them to make sure it happens sooner rather than later.

Rovers have failed to win in their last nine League One matches and head into tonight's trip to Scunthorpe United just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Ferguson feels enough belief remains in the group that they will pull themselves away from trouble.

"Common sense will tell you it is going to turn," Ferguson said. "Doncaster Rovers will not lose the next 600 games.

"It's impossible. They're not going to win the next 600 either. Football doesn't work that way.

"Eventually you turn. You just have to belief in the group to make sure it does.

"It will turn this season, there is no question.

"Hopefully Tuesday night we get that win and we will push on.

"In football as in life, you don't keep losing and you don't keep winning."

Rovers were well in control heading into half time of their clash with Shrewsbury Town at the weekend, only for a sloppy goal and disappointing performance to see them fall to a sixth defeat in seven matches.

Despite another setback, Ferguson insists he and his players remain optimistic.

He said: "We've just got to dig a bit deeper.

"The easiest thing would be in the dressing room to think how are we possibly going to win another football match?

"We totally dominated the first half against Shrewsbury. We just needed a goal.

"They started the second half well and we didn't, then they got the goal.

"It will turn for us.

"You've just got to continue believing in what we're doing and the players have to believe in themselves.

"They've got to see a manager who still believes in them which is the case.

"I think Saturday's performance in the first half showed we have all those credentials.

"We just need that bit of lady luck."
