Doncaster Rovers: McCullough granted extra leave following Euro 2016
The 22-year-old did not make it off the bench before his country were knocked out by Wales in the Round of 16.
But the training and travel demands placed upon McCullough meant he was absent from the Rovers squad that travelled to Scotland on Thursday for their pre-season training camp and will not feature in Tuesday night’s opening friendly against Rossington Main.

“He will be back and that will be a bonus for us. I had a good chat with him and I’ve given him some time off because he’s been training every day nearly.
“He needs a break. Mentally, it will have taken something out of him in that sort of tournament.
“He’ll be back on the Thursday after the Rossington game. We’ll obviously have to build him up accordingly.”

“The players have been very good. We’ve got a lot of work into them,” he said.
“We’ve split the sessions with ball work and running. We’ve done a lot of shape work already.
“They’ve taken on all the information and we’re just hoping that during pre-season we create that really good team spirit and togetherness that is key really.”
