Doncaster Rovers: Less talk, more action - Coppinger

The veteran midfielder – who is set to return from injury to face Peterborough United this weekend – signed a new one year contract earlier this month.

The threat of relegation to League Two is a very real one for Rovers, who sit outside the bottom four on goal difference alone.

But Coppinger is confident there is enough in the squad to secure survival with 30 points left to play for.

“I didn’t sign a contract to be here another year in that division,” Rovers’ all-time leading appearance maker said.

“I wouldn’t even have contemplated that.

“We are where we are but with ten games to go we’ve got a lot of points to play for to put it right and it starts on Saturday.

“We’re looking forward to it - well I certainly am any way.”

Coppinger says it is very difficult to say what has gone wrong at Rovers since the turn of the year.

And he believes talk is cheap any way with the players desperately needing to do their talking on the pitch.

“You can’t really think that far back in terms of that went wrong or this went wrong,” he said.

“It is what it is and we are where we are

“We’ve just try and talk less - which is hard when you’ve got press in

“But it’s about talking less and doing more on the pitch.

“You get asked the same questions and you give the same answers. There’s not a lot you can say about where we are.

“So we’ve got to do it as players, take responsibility - all of that has been said already.

“That’s all I can say really.”
