But the former Nottingham Forest, Rotherham United and Macclesfield Town forward will also help coach players in the development squad alongside John Schofield.

Glover will also oversee Rovers’ scouting for recruitment.

McCann believes Glover will be a valuable addition to his backroom staff.

“Lee is going to be opposition scout, building up a portfolio on recruitment and players that we possibly could have in the future,” McCann said.

”In an every day sense on Mondays, maybe Tuesdays, Thursdays leading into games he will be working closely with John Schofield with players in between the 18s and first team.

“Gloves was working with Blackpool last year. He's an excellent coach.

”He was my assistant at Peterborugh for most of my first year.

”He's someone who knows me, the players I want, how I like to coach.

”I think it's important in this role that you have people you know know what you want.

”He'll be brilliant for us.

”He's come in already, made himself at home. He's an infectious character so I think everyone has taken to him quite well.”

Glover replaces some of the responsibilities of Russ Wilcox, who departed as head of recruitment last week.
