Danny Andrew suffered a injury to his foot during Saturday's trip to Peterborough, joining fellow left back Danny Amos on the sidelines.

Both men are also doubtful for this weekend's game with Luton Town in League One.

'Danny is the player we are most concerned about and whether he makes Saturday we will have to wait and see,' boss Grant McCann said,

'He did it during the game. It was a nothing incident, he was running back towards his own goal and something happened to his foot.

'The CT scan has come back all clear but we want to just make sure there's no real damage there.

'He's in good form and the last thing we need is for him to miss a period of time, especially with Danny Amos injured as well. It wouldn't be ideal.

'There will possibly be a reshuffle. Someone is going to have to play out of position.

'But needs must and the person who will play there has played there before anyway.'

Amos is currently recovering from a knee injury which looks set to rule him out of his first call-up to Northern Ireland U21s this weekend.

There was more positive injury news for Rovers on Joe Wright, who suffered an ankle injury in training on Friday and missed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Peterborough United.

A scan has revealed there is no lasting damage from the injury and he should be available for selection against Luton Town at the weekend.

Wright will sit out Tuesday night's visit of the young Newcastle team to the Keepmoat.

'Joe Wright had his scan and everything has come back clear,' McCann said.

'He won't play tomorrow but I'm pleased to have the thumbs on him.

'Joe will probably train Thursday and Friday.'

While pledging to field a strong team in the Checkatrade Trophy, McCann revealed he will give time out of the side on Tuesday night to several other players who are either carrying knocks or in need of a break from action.

'Ben Whiteman won't play, Danny Andrew won't play, Niall Mason won't and James Coppinger won't play,' he said.

'The players that come in to the side on Tuesday will know it is an opportunity for them,

'And it will be first team players, it won't be a load of kids given the chance.

'As much as I'd love to do that my priority is to go far in this competition.'

'Joe [Sharp, physio] sends me a report every Sunday and Ben reported some stiffness in his knee.

'It's something we've had to manage with Ben anyway.

'The league is our priority.

'I've said all along this is a competition I want to go far in but this is a good chance to give someone an opportunity who has been champing at the bit.

'It's up to him if he wants to perform.

'Coppinger is more about resting. e's very important to us.

'He'll probably tell you he can but I know when you get to 37 or 38 that it's difficult to go three times in a week.

'We'll look ahead to Saturday for Copps.'
