Butler was forced off late during Saturday's defeat to Fleetwood Town, clutching his collarbone.

McCann revealed the 34-year-old was sent for a scan on Monday morning but was confident the issue would not keep him out of action.

'He's gone for a scan and we should know more by Monday afternoon,' McCann said.

'I don't think Joe [Sharp, physio] is too worried about it.

'Buts seems a bit better than definitely he was at the weekend.

'We're hoping he'll be ok.

'I don't think he'll be out for the weekend.

'Buts is a tough lad any way.

'We'll see how he is and hopefully it's good news.'

Butler was unlikely to feature in Tuesday night's Checkatrade Trophy clash with Grimsby Town with Tom Anderson set to come in.

Paul Taylor is available for Rovers having shaken off the illness which kept him out of the defeat to Fleetwood while Danny Amos misses out due to his call up for international duty with Northern Ireland U21s.
