Rovers took what felt like a big step to securing an instant return to League One by winning at Cambridge United on the same night their promotion rivals stumbled.

But Baudry - who returned to the starting line-up and scored his second goal of the season in the 3-2 victory at the Abbey Stadium - says Ferguson has everyone within the camp on an even keel going into the final 12 games.

“We stay grounded,” said the French defender.

“The gaffer puts things into perspective, like when he said during the week that we’ve lost two in 20 games.

“We know what we have to do.

“He’s told us, and it’s true, that at this level the last 15 games are a real grind because everyone is fighting for something, whether that’s survival or play-off places. It gets harder and you have to step up your effort in a game.

“I think you saw that [on Tuesday night] for the last 15 minutes, everyone was working really hard.”

Baudry acknowledged that it was important that Rovers returned to winning ways this week but said five games without a win did not represent a dip in performances.

“It was important just to win,” he said.

“I think we played really well at times but we know it’s difficult at this time of the season becuase it’s the run-in and everyone is giving everything.

“I think it’s easy if you’re on the outside to make an easy conclusion and say they’ve not won for five games so they’re not playing very well.

“But it was difficult circumstances. At Newport the pitch meant it was just a battle. And at Carlisle, who are up the table, I wasn’t there but I heard we played pretty well.

“You get a few average results and people start saying they’re falling off. But we know what we’re doing and we’ve been consistent in our performances. We just need to step-up for the run-in and get over the line.”
