“Paul just felt his thigh a little bit,” boss Darren Ferguson told The Star.

“It’s a different injury than the one he had last season.

“He’s worked all the way through the closed season with his own programme to get fit for pre-season.

“He just felt it on the first day unfortunately.

“He’s in the middle of his rehab now.

“Hopefully he doesn’t miss too much longer because pre-season is vital and you don’t want to miss any of it really.”

Despite his injury, Keegan travelled with the Rovers squad for the training camp at the University of Stirling in Scotland over the weekend.

New signing Mathieu Baudry also suffered an issue with his Achilles but Ferguson was not overly concerned.

Keegan will miss tonight’s friendly at Rossington Main, which kicks off at 7.45pm.

Entry is priced at £6 for adults and £3 concessions.
