Doncaster Rovers: Ferguson's disappointment at manner of Blackpool defeat

An own goal gave Rovers the lead less than a minute in but Blackpool roared back with a Brad Potts brace plus goals from Kelvin Wilson and Kyle Vassell.

Tommy Rowe scored a 66th minute penalty to reduce the deficit but missed another spot kick four minutes from time as Rovers failed to grasp the game.

And Ferguson was not pleased.

"It was a bad day at the office," he said afterwards.

"To score two goals away from home, miss a penalty and still lose the game, it's a disappointing result.

"And quite a few things in the game disappointed me.

"We feel we've got goals in the team and we showed that again.

"The disappointing thing for me as the manager is that we didn't try enough of the things we'd worked on.

"We worked on it from Monday morning. I knew my team and my system on Monday to play Blackpool.

"I accept they are going to make mistakes but not to try what we wanted to do was the thing that's annoyed me most today as well the manner of the defeat."

They started superbly with Coppinger forcing the error which saw Andy Taylor turn into his own net.

But Ferguson believes the early goal may have disrupted his side.

He said: "It might have been the worst thing that happened us scoing so early because we didn';t get any flow in our game.

"We went with three attackers instead of two with Coppinger, Rowe and Marquis. And we'd worked on it since Monday but we didn't execute what we were trying to do."
